AAT Webb Dock West marks historic port callAssets

AAT’s Webb Dock West terminal became the first Australian port call for BYD’s new BYD Zhengzhou roll-on, roll-off (RORO) vessel this week (June 2, 2026).

Loaded with almost 5000 vehicles headed for the Australian market, the vessel received a water salute as she sailed into Port Phillip Bay over the weekend before docking at Webb Dock West under sunny Melbourne skies.

To mark the occasion, the terminal’s warehouse was transformed into a major event space on Tuesday, hosting more than 200 BYD executives, dealers, customers, media and stakeholders in a celebration of the Zhengzhou’s arrival and BYD’s growing presence in the Australian automotive market.

AAT Terminals Managing Director, Pat Smith, said the arrival of the BYD Zhengzhou marked an important milestone for BYD – one of AAT’s major national customers – at a time when demand for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles is soaring.

“The arrival of the BYD Zhengzhou is an exciting milestone for our customer, BYD, and a really tangible demonstration of the enthusiasm Australian consumers have for innovative plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles.”

Pat said approximately 2,000 vehicles would be unloaded at AAT’s Webb Dock West Terminal in the Port of Melbourne, with the remainder to be unloaded at AAT’s Port Kembla terminal and Fisherman Islands terminal in Brisbane.
